Report: Leeds have now spoken to agent of £10m star
Leeds United are amongst the clubs to have spoken to the agent of Boubacar Kamara with Marseille open to selling the midfielder for £10 million, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Kamara is attracting a lot of attention as his contract runs into its final months. His deal at Stade Velodrome expires at the end of the campaign.
It was recently reported that Kamara wants £150,000-a-week at his next club. The likes of Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle are all keen on the 22-year-old.
Of course, those wage demands seem likely to put off most. However, it would actually appear that plenty of sides have still confirmed their interest with his representatives.
The Daily Mail reports that Leeds, Aston Villa and Manchester United have all spoken to his agent. Marseille meanwhile, will reportedly let him leave this month for £10 million.
Kamara could be an ideal signing for Leeds, if he is open to dropping his wage demands
It remains to be seen if Kamara is willing to lower his demands to make a move this month. There does appear to be an increasing trend of players seeing out the rest of their contracts before securing even more lucrative terms.
Leeds however, would be taking a gamble letting the window close without a new signing coming in. Marcelo Bielsa’s side remain on the periphery of the relegation battle.
A win against Newcastle on Saturday would have likely ended almost all of those fears. But the 1-0 loss has left the door to the bottom three ever so slightly ajar.
Leeds should still have enough to get themselves out of trouble. However, injuries have destroyed the squad at times. And they remain without several key players.
Signing Kamara a few months early could prove to be an incredibly smart piece of business. Something like a £10 million fee will soon be a bargain if the youngster hits the ground running and steps up in the second-half of the season. He has previously been labelled ‘extraordinary‘ by former teammate Rolando.
Obviously, Leeds are unlikely to stick around too long in the race should Kamara indeed want £150,000-a-week. But it is interesting that they have made contact with his agent.
