Leeds United have reportedly made an enquiry for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Hwang Hee-chan.

According to The Athletic, the Whites made an informal proposal of £17million.

However, Wolves have apparently turned Leeds’ approach down.

The pay structure is not to their liking, and they want to keep Hwang, added the report.

Leeds are apparently looking for a new striker due to Patrick Bamford’s fitness issues over the past 12 months.

In addition, Rodrigo Moreno suffered a dislocated shoulder in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Everton.

The Leeds forward is now set for a scan to discover how long he faces on the sidelines.

Marsch admitted that Hwang is on his radar ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

“I know him very well, I like him, he knows our football,” the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.

“He’s on our list, I can tell you that.”

Sky Sports recently reported that Hwang would be keen to work again with Marsch.

The Leeds boss coached the 47-cap South Korea international at Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig.

Hwang, who is apparently also on the radar of Roma, reportedly has a price tag of up to £25m.

“He’s exceptional”

Leeds would be getting themselves a great player in Hwang, particularly considering Marsch knows how to get the best out of him.

Erling Haaland has previously called him a “brilliant” player capable of “absolutely crazy” displays (Bundesliga website).

Meanwhile, former Liefering and Salzburg head coach Peter Zeidler has said: “He’s exceptional, has a brutal dynamism. I’ve rarely seen anything like it.”

Hwang has been with Wolves since last August, when he joined on loan from RB Leipzig.

In January this year, Wolves announced they had activated his buying clause, so he has only been on their books since July.
