Leeds United have reportedly already started discussions with Patrick Bamford about his future at Elland Road.

According to The Athletic, the Whites are planning to agree a new contract with their 27-year-old star. It is understood the two parties have already entered talks about a fresh deal.

In addition, the Yorkshire club are likely to address the future of Kalvin Phillips in the near future.

Bamford, who earns £35,000-a-week, had an amazing 2020/21 season on his return to the top flight.

The left-footed striker scored 17 goals during the 38-game league season. Also, he chalked up eight assists.

He was unfortunate in some people’s eyes to miss out on an England call-up, but individually it was a superb campaign where he spearheaded the attack at Elland Road.

Bamford has silenced doubters emphatically about whether or not he belongs at the top level.

Securing Patrick Bamford future is essential

For Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, there is a handful of players that he needs in his XI each game. Bamford, along with the likes of Phillips, Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling, fit into that category.

The centre-forward’s game has become so complete since working under Argentine boss Bielsa, who’s had a similar effect to most inside the Leeds dressing room.

His biggest challenge now comes in trying to replicate last year’s success in the upcoming season.
