According to reports in Spain, Kiko Casilla remains on Sevilla’s radar. Sevilla want a new goalkeeper and Casilla is one of their potential targets, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The once-capped Spaniard joined Leeds last January after Jamal Blackman broke his leg. Casilla took Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s spot as the number one at Elland Road and has kept it ever since.
Casilla’s time at Leeds has returned mixed reviews. At times, he has looked impressive but sometimes his ‘sweeper-keeper’ method has been questionable. But Marcelo Bielsa has kept the faith with Casilla as his first-choice stopper.

Leeds have sold Peacock-Farrell to Burnley this summer, showing that Bielsa rates Casilla as his number one. But now Sevilla could look to prise the 32-year-old away from Leeds. Sevilla want another goalkeeper to compete with Tomas Vaclik and could try to tempt the ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper back to Spain.
There are other options for Sevilla too. Peter Gulacsi, the former Liverpool stopper now at Red Bull Leipzig, is their top choice. But if they are priced out of this move or Benfica win the race, then Casilla or Juventus’ Mattia Perin will be next in line.
Casilla must stay
While Casilla divides opinion among Leeds fans, it is clear that the club cannot afford to lose him. With Peacock-Farrell gone, inexperienced 22-year-old Kamil Miazek and Will Huffer, 20, are the only other options.
With the transfer deadline looming (tomorrow at 5pm), Leeds do not have enough time to find a suitable replacement. Bielsa’s men must hold tight and fight off any interest in Casilla.
