Report: Leeds forward Eddie Nketiah to be recalled from loan by Arsenal

Leeds United are reportedly set to lose loan star Eddie Nketiah in January, as his parent club Arsenal plot his future.

According to the Daily Mail, Premier League outfit Arsenal are “likely” to cut the attacker’s loan at Elland Road short in the January transfer window.

It is understood that they are not pleased with his lack of action for the Whites in the Championship and feel he would be better served elsewhere for the second half of the season.

The report details that Arsenal could line up a new loan, with Bristol City expected to reignite previous interest in him.

Nketiah has played just 13 games across all competitions this season and scored five goals in return.

But the 20-year-old striker hasn’t started a single league fixture and is behind teammate Patrick Bamford in the pecking order.

He’s extremely highly-regarded at the Emirates Stadium and it looks like the Gunners will intervene midway through the season.

TBR’s View:

Nketiah may not be starting for Leeds, but he’s a brilliant option in the squad and it would be a significant loss if he exits in January.

Bamford is the preferred option for manager Marcelo Bielsa and in fairness he’s played his role in helping the club to second in the table.

But Nketiah has shown in glimpses he can be explosive in front of goal when he gets minutes and is a natural finisher.

Leeds really should start their search for a new forward now, as they can’t hope to maintain an automatic promotion bid with just Bamford as the sole option to lead the attack.
