Leeds United are amongst the sides monitoring Nottingham Forest youngster Brennan Johnson as he continues to shine out on loan, according to a report from The Athletic.
Leeds have tended to focus on signing young players during the January transfer windows Marcelo Bielsa has overseen. So it is little surprise that they reportedly have their eye on the Forest teenager.
The versatile Wales international is currently on loan with Lincoln City. And he has scored five goals and contributed two assists for the Imps in League One.
The Athletic reports that Leeds have kept an eye on his progress. Meanwhile, Brentford and Burnley are also watching the attacking midfielder.
The report adds that Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise are considering making a bid. They also suggest that Forest would be looking for a significant fee before even contemplating selling Johnson.
Forest have brought through a number of exciting youngsters in recent years. So it will surely not be easy to convince Johnson to consider a move away anytime soon.
Leeds may hope that their track record for signing young players and handing them chances amongst the first-team at Elland Road works in their favour.
Johnson played alongside Whites youngster Robbie Gotts during the first-half of the season. So it will also be interesting to see whether keeping an eye on the 21-year-old’s development encouraged them to start looking at the Forest starlet.
