Report: Leeds eye £7m Lewis O'Brien bid amid Crystal Palace links
Leeds are expected to make a £7 million bid for Lewis O’Brien this week with the midfielder preferring a move to the Whites over a switch to Crystal Palace, according to a report from The Sun.
O’Brien looks to be one of Marcelo Bielsa’s key targets heading into the final stages of the window.
However, Leeds may face competition. The Sun notes that Crystal Palace may make a move should Will Hughes prove to be out of their price range.
Palace have already beaten the Whites to the signing of Conor Gallagher this summer. So some at Elland Road may be wary of missing out on another midfield target.
But it does appear that Leeds have received a boost in the race for the Huddersfield Town star.
According to The Sun, the 22-year-old would rather join Leeds than the Eagles.
And Bielsa’s men are expected to make a £7 million bid this coming week.
New signing needed with Leeds expected to make £7m O’Brien bid
Leeds’s season did not get off to the best start. They were thumped on the opening day of the new campaign.
Few will be losing any faith in Bielsa. But the lift that comes from bringing in a new signing will surely still be extremely welcome.
O’Brien, in particular, would be a positive addition. Leeds’s struggles in the middle of the park were a key reason for Saturday’s defeat.
Obviously, the Huddersfield man is still perfecting his game. He does not turn 23 until later this year. And thus, he may not have made a big difference at Old Trafford had he already made a move across Yorkshire.
But he does appear to have a lot of potential. So a deal would provide a timely boost.
