It is expected that Kalvin Phillips will hand Leeds United a huge boost and sign a new contract amid interest from a number of clubs, including Liverpool, according to a report from 90min.

What’s the story?

Leeds are set to start talks with Phillips over a new deal. It is noted that he signed his last contract while the Whites were in the Championship.

He has since established himself in the Premier League and in an England shirt. And he is attracting interest.

90min reports that both Manchester clubs want Phillips. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Chelsea are also monitoring the 25-year-old.

But it would appear that Phillips is most likely to stay exactly where he is.

The report suggests that he is expected to sign a new contract with Leeds. In fact, he could see his wages more than doubled and become the first player to go past the £100,000-a-week mark at Elland Road.

Hard to see Phillips leaving Leeds – at least, while Bielsa remains in charge

Marcelo Bielsa has had such a seismic impact on Phillips’s career. Obviously, the Yorkshire Pirlo deserves enormous credit for kicking on beyond all expectations.

But had Leeds fans been asked in Bielsa’s first summer which midfield prospect they were most excited about, plenty would have surely suggested that Ronaldo Vieira was the future star.

Phillips quickly became a key man for the new boss. Vieira meanwhile, was sold as Leeds looked to fund a move for Patrick Bamford.

And Phillips has gone on to step up year on year.

For many Leeds fans, he would be a fitting first recipient of a six-figure contract.
