Spanish newspaper AS have claimed that Leeds United could end up paying another £8million for Spain international Rodrigo – after their initial club-record outlay which saw them pay Valencia £27million in total.
Rodrigo, 29, has been pivotal to Leeds this season. Some reports in Spain have suggested that he has struggled in England, but delve more deeply and it is clear that Rodrigo’s goalscoring stats have reduced as he is playing in central midfield.
Originally signed as a replacement – or competition – for Patrick Bamford, Marcelo Bielsa’s ability to find new positions for players has seen Rodrigo drop into midfield. He has had a hand in four goals during his 18 Premier League games.
Scoring just three and creating one, he is expected to miss Wednesday night’s game against Everton. Already a club-record signing at £27million, the report from AS claims that Leeds could end up paying another £8million in add-ons.

TBR’s view – Is Rodrigo worth a whopping £35million?
There is no doubting Rodrigo’s enormous quality. The 25-time Spain international has given Leeds the top-flight flair and creativity required to survive in the Premier League – something that perhaps they lacked in the Championship.
Jack Harrison, Raphinha and Bamford are all thriving around him and a lot of that can be down to Rodrigo’s unselfishness. But is he worth £35million in total? At 29, probably not. But if Leeds survive this season, it ends up being money well spent.
