The Manchester Evening News has claimed that Leeds United can sign Jack Harrison for just £8million from Manchester City on a permanent basis – but the Whites will only do so on one condition.

Harrison, 23, is in the form of his life under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds in what is his second season-long loan spell at Elland Road. The England Under-21 international has had a hand in 11 goals during his 29 appearances.

Indeed, Harrison has netted five himself and created six more. He is one of the first names on the team sheet for Leeds, and his progression was more than evident in Leeds’ 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. Harrison was the pick of the Leeds players throughout.

The former New York City man can now remain at Leeds beyond the end of the season if the Whites opt to pay the £8million asking price and agree a wage – Harrison currently earns £51,000 a week according to Spotrac.

But the Whites will only pay the fee if they gain promotion to the Premier League, as per the report. However, the report does claim that Leeds could still make an offer even if they blow promotion – which sees them sit nine points clear of third.

TBR’s view – Harrison is an absolute bargain at just £8m

Whether Leeds gain promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2004 or not, landing Harrison is crucial no matter what the fee. Luckily for Leeds, it is clear that the fee is just £8million.

But at that price, Leeds will have to snap him up quickly before any other interested parties become keen on the Bolton-born winger. His performance against Arsenal was far above that of an £8million player.
