Report: Leeds aware they're likely to break transfer record on striker
Leeds United are aware that they are likely to break their transfer record on the striker they sign in the final weeks of the transfer window, according to a report from Leeds Live.
The Whites have enjoyed a really impressive window considering that they lost their two best players.
Jesse Marsch has welcomed six new signings. And the club appear to be much stronger in a number of important areas. But there are still a couple of concerns about the side.
And the lack of depth up front is one worry. Leeds scored just three goals during their three games in Australia, and one came from the penalty spot.
They have been linked with various names. Of course, the player at the top of their wishlist is Charles De Ketelaere. But reports have claimed that they are close to agreeing terms with Arnaud Kalimuendo. And others are in the mix.
The fans may be a little concerned while they await the new arrival. Obviously, Victor Orta has a mixed track record in the market. But it does seem that the club are prepared to push the boat out with the new addition.
According to Leeds Live, Leeds are aware that they will probably break their transfer record with the striker they do land.
Transfermarkt shows that the Whites’ most expensive buy cost £29.6 million. So you would imagine that the club are expecting to spend more than £30 million on the next name through the door.

As mentioned, Orta’s record when signing more marquee names has been mixed in the past. Two of Leeds’ most expensive signings, Rodrigo and Dan James, have certainly struggled to live up to expectations.
But obviously, being prepared to pay the large sum opens the market right up. Leeds have a fantastic opportunity to end a really positive window on a major high.
