Report: Leeds are planning to sign Ozan Tufan before Euro 2020

Turkish site Fotomac have claimed that Leeds are planning on completing a deal to sign Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan before the start of the European Championships – with bid expected to come in at the end of the season.

Tufan, 26, is established as one of the best midfield talents in Turkish football as he continues to shine with Fenerbahce. With three games to play in the SuperLig, though, Fener look as though they will fail in their title bid.

That is because Besiktas sit five points ahead in first. But Tufan has been excellent for Fenerbahce, having a hand in 14 goals from the middle of the park – largely used as a box-to-box midfielder. Scoring five, he has created nine.

The midfielder already boasts 58 caps for his country and a move away from Fener is on the cards this summer. Leeds are looking to complete a deal for the midfielder before the Euros begin this summer, as per the report.

TBR’s view – Tufan is a top talent, but what is a fair price?

Back in 2020, Fanatik claimed that Crystal Palace were looking to activate the £17.5million clause in Tufan’s contract. That clause remains ahead of the summer window, but is he worth a figure that steep?

The Turkish league is a decent standard but some way below Europe’s top-five leagues. However, his form in Europe and on the international stage proves he is a good player. Get him for less than £15million, and it is a bargain.
