Report: Leeds and Newcastle watching Celtic's Ryan Christie closely
Leeds United and Newcastle are two of the Premier League sides watching Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie closely, according to a report from 90min.
Christie has been a talisman for the Hoops for a few years now. And despite not being at his best for much of this campaign, he has still made a major contribution for Neil Lennon’s side.
He has scored four goals and contributed 10 assists in all competitions. Two of those assists have come in five Europa League games this term.
Despite Celtic’s struggles, it appears that a number of clubs want the 25-year-old. According to 90min, Leeds, Newcastle, Leicester and Southampton are all monitoring Christie.
It is noted that his current deal at Parkhead expires in 2022. And he is yet to show a willingness to agree a new contract with the Hoops.
TBR View: Christie could become next Celtic star to be a revelation in the Premier League
Christie is one of the players who has arguably been below par for Celtic this term. And yet, he is already into double figures for assists.
He scored 19 and provided 16 assists in all competitions last year. That is an amazing total. And that certainly hints that he has every chance of being the next Celtic star to shine in the Premier League.
Several clubs reportedly want to now give him that platform.
