Report: Leeds and Everton want Josip Brekalo
Leeds United and Everton are amongst the clubs to have shown an interest in Josip Brekalo in recent months, according to a report from the Daily Express.
Both Leeds and the Toffees will be looking to build on encouraging campaigns this summer. Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been a revelation in their first year back in the Premier League.
Everton meanwhile, have contended for the European places for much of the season.
And it seems that both clubs could rival some of Europe’s heavyweights for the signature of the Croatia international.
The Daily Express reports that both Leeds and Everton have taken a look at the 22-year-old. But Bayern Munich and Napoli are also interested in the Wolfsburg star.
Brekalo has scored seven goals in the Bundesliga for Oliver Glasner’s high-flyers. His tally received a big boost at the weekend as he scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Union Berlin.
The Express notes that Everton have been tracking Brekalo since he was 17. So perhaps, it should not be a surprise if the Toffees do indeed step up their interest in the coming months.
It would be a coup for either Leeds or Everton to land Brekalo. Wolfsburg have a fantastic chance to book their ticket to next season’s Champions League.
Meanwhile, Bayern’s interest highlights just what a talent he is. But it also shows how difficult it could be for either of his Premier League admirers to land him.
