Report: Leeds already eyeing 3rd summer signing as Orta makes bid for 'very good, fast' 53-cap striker
Leeds United have already made two signings this summer.
The Whites have bolstered their ranks by landing Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg.
However, it doesn’t look as though Leeds’ summer business is anywhere near over just yet.
A report from France on Wednesday has claimed that the Elland Road outfit is now trying for a forward.
Indeed, the French outfit claims an offer for him has ‘already arrived on the desk of the Bordeaux board’.
Given L’Equipe only mentions Leeds as potential suitors, it suggests they’ve made a bid for Ellis.
The 26-year-old, who is currently on the books of Portugal’s Boavista, can play across the front line.
Most of his appearances in 2021-22 coming up front and on the right.
Elis impressed in Ligue 1 last term, registering nine goals and one assist from 20 outings.
However, the 53-cap Honduras international couldn’t prevent Bordeaux from suffering relegation.
The French outfit reportedly has a €7.5m (£6.4m) option to buy Elis.
It looks as though they’ll take up the offer, then immediately sell him at a profit.
“Good on the ball”
In July 2020, former Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre waxed lyrical about his compatriot.
“Alberth is a very good friend of mine and I spoke with him about Celtic,” he told Herald and Times Sport.
“He’s a very good, fast player. He is very fast and strong and he’s good in the air.
“He’s played a lot of football and is good on the ball.”
Admittedly, Elis would be a bit of a gamble for Leeds as he hasn’t played in England.
However, he’s clearly a talented player who’s shown he has what it takes in Ligue 1, which is a difficult league.
In addition, Elis stood out and did well despite Bordeaux finishing bottom of the table.
