Report: Lampard wants Everton to sign Spanish full-back who has more league assists than Trent
According to Voetbal Nieuws, Everton are among the clubs interested in signing Anderlecht left-back Sergio Gomez in the summer transfer window.
Just a few days before the Toffees sacked Rafa Benitez, Everton sold Lucas Digne to Aston Villa. The defender fell out with the Spaniard and the board backed the latter, even though most fans were completely against it.
Everton signed Vitaliy Mykolenko as Digne’s replacement and although the Ukrainian is a talented player, the Toffees could do with an upgrade in that position.
Frank Lampard is the boss now and he has reportedly identified a new left-back for the summer.

Everton are interested in Sergio Gomez
Gomez, still only 21, has already been a part of top European clubs like Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.
The Spaniard only joined Anderlecht in the summer transfer window and he has been absolutely incredible for them. Gomez has scored six goals and has provided 13 assists in all competitions so far, which is an outrageous return for a defender.
The report claims that big sides like Chelsea and Manchester United have also kept an eye on him, but moves to either Everton or Southampton are a lot more realistic in the summer transfer window.
More assists then Trent
If there’s one thing that Everton fans love, it’s to get one over Liverpool. That has been extremely difficult in recent years, but they could have something to shout about if they sign Gomez.
The Spaniard has 11 assists to his name in the league so far this season. Liverpool’s star full-back Trent Alexander Arnold, whose assists tally is better than most creative midfielders in the world, has 10 to his name in the Premier League this term, one less than Everton-linked Gomez.
It will be interesting to see if the Toffees will make a move for the Anderlecht defender in the summer. Lampard will be looking to make his side attack-minded and what better way to do that than by signing a full-back like Gomez whose offensive output is nothing short of incredible.
