Report: Klopp wants to bring 'dangerous' £25m playmaker to Liverpool, he plays like Kai Havertz
Liverpool have set their sights on Hoffenheim playmaker Christoph Baumgartner, according to Sport Bild.
The report claims Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has placed the 22-year-old on his transfer wishlist.
Liverpool boast quality throughout their ranks at present, including in midfield.
However, Klopp won’t turn down the chance to make superb signing when the opportunity arises.
We’ve seen it this season, when he brought Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz to Anfield.
Liverpool weren’t exactly in desperate need of reinforcements in defence or up front.
And both players have been absolutely superb for the Reds, giving Klopp the strength in depth to challenge for a quadruple.
With Jordan Henderson and James Milner now in their thirties, Klopp may well fancy bolstering his midfield ranks further.
Sport Bild claims Baumgartner is considering whether it’s time for a change after making his breakthrough at Hoffenheim.
The German outlet also claims the Austria international has a release clause of €30m (£25m), ‘depending on the club’s league’.
As well as Liverpool, the likes of Manchester United, Leicester and Sevilla are also reportedly eyeing Baumgartner.
“Extremely talented player”
Baumgartner, a young, versatile and talented player who has been compared to the likes of Kai Havertz and Michael Ballack (Bundesliga website), would be a great shout for Liverpool.
He has reached a century of appearances for Hoffenheim, having played all across their midfield and attack, and is equally apt with both feet.
“‘Baumi’ is an extremely talented player with strong technical skills and a good sense for space in attack,” the Bundesliga website quotes Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen as saying.
“As a result, he always develops solutions in tight game situations and is also dangerous around goal.”
