According to Le 10 Sport, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is so desperate to secure the services of Nicolas Pepe this summer that he may sanction the sale of Mohamed Salah in order to fund a move for the Lille man.
It’s easy to see why the German coach is such a fan of Pepe. The 24-year-old winger was in spectacular form last season. Over the course of the Ligue 1 campaign, the Ivory Coast international racked up a sensational 22 goals and 11 assists.
His stock has never been higher and Lille will seek the highest possible price in exchange for their prized asset. If the Reds were to bring Pepe to Anfield this summer then it would cost them a significant fee – the kind that selling Salah would raise.
Allowing the Egyptian superstar to depart from Merseyside would be a huge mistake. The 26-year-old has been a revelation since joining the club in 2017.
He has been the star of the club’s revitalisation under Klopp, which saw them claim the Champions League title in June.
Klopp should not allow Salah to leave the club under any circumstances. He must continue building his vision of a dominant Liverpool around his talents. If that means missing out on Pepe, then so be it.
