Report: Klopp is a massive fan of £50m midfielder, he called Liverpool 'relentless' last sea
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be a ‘huge admirer’ of Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, going into the summer transfer window, the Liverpool Echo report.
However, the same update suggests that is likely to be as far as Liverpool’s interest goes – in an update that may please Villa fans.
Aston Villa’s success last campaign has already seen interest mount in Jack Grealish, while rumours have now linked with McGinn and Ollie Watkins to Liverpool.
But while Klopp is said to be a major fan of the Scottish international, and move to Anfield does not appear to be imminent.
Indeed, the Echo suggest that a Liverpool bid for the 26-year-old, who is valued at £50 million (Athletic), remains unlikely at the present stage.
That may disappoint many at Liverpool, who had consider McGinn as a potential option to upgrade their midfield.
Liverpool surely need additions in the centre of the pitch, after losing Georginio Wijnaldum, and McGinn would have been an attractive purchase.
Not only is he very experienced in the Premier League, he is a tough tackler, and his full blooded style would surely have gone down well with the Reds crowd.
McGinn actually knows all about Liverpool’s style, and called them ‘relentless’ last season (Football 365).
But with Liverpool not having a huge budget to spend, it may be that Klopp’s side are taking a realistic approach, and looking elsewhere for more value for money this summer.
