Report: Klopp has sent Liverpool scouts to watch ‘unstoppable’ £32m powerhouse who’s like Essien

Liverpool have joined the race to sign PSV star Ibrahim Sangare, according to Voetbal International.

The Reds could do with bolstering their midfield ranks in the summer transfer window.

Although Liverpool are strong in that area – as they are all across the pitch – there’s certainly scope to strengthen.

Jordan Henderson is 31 and James Milner is 36, so Jurgen Klopp may well be looking for potential successors.

And Sangare is a great shout, as he’s one of the Eredisivie’s best players and just 24 years old.

VI – via Sport Witness – has claimed that Liverpool have Sangare ‘firmly in their sights’.

Indeed, Klopp has reportedly sent out scouts to watch the Ivory Coast international in PSV action recently.

PSV apparently want to do ‘everything’ to keep the player in Eindhoven.

However, the outlet points out there is nothing they can do if a club triggers his €37.5m (£34m) release clause.

VI also claims likes of Aston Villa, Leicester City and Newcastle United have also been eyeing Sangare.

But as one of England’s strongest clubs and a serial winner, Liverpool would have much more pulling power for his services.

Sangare has made 48 appearances in all competitions this term and helped his club win the 2021-22 Dutch Cup.

PSV coach Roger Schmidt has deemed his player “unstoppable”.

Meanwhile, club legend Aad de Mos recently told Voetbal4U: “Sangare is better on one leg than Leicester’s midfield.”

And African journalist Alpha Balde told Goal.com in 2018: “Physically, he’s like Yaya Toure but he reminds me of Michael Essien.

“I saw Essien at the start of his career and they had the same physical strength at an equal age.”
