Report: Klopp has decided his first choice midfield trio at Liverpool next season
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp sees Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago as his first choice midfield this season, with transfers being talked up next term, Goal.com say.
Top choice midfield
Liverpool have lost Georginio Wijnaldum this summer, which has left supporters urging Jurgen Klopp and the club to make some signings.
However, the Reds may have to wait for another year before getting additions.
Goal say that Liverpool see next summer as the big one, as they feel targets may be more accessible.
Interestingly, Klopp’s plan is to stick with what he has.
Klopp apparently sees Fabinho as his holding midfielder, with Henderson set to start on the right and Thiago on the left.
Apparently Klopp actually viewed this as his first choice midfield even last season, which suggests Wijnaldum may have played a reduced role if Thiago had stayed fit.
Big Thiago season needed
It also puts pressure on the Spaniard to improve his performances this time around.
Thiago didn’t have the impact at Anfield many were expecting in his first year, with the 29-year-old taking some time to adapt.
But it seems that he will be playing an important role at Liverpool this campaign, and the Reds really need him to step up and prove the class which made him one of the finest midfielders in world football when he was at Bayern Munich.
