According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Kieran Tierney has not suffered a fresh injury setback and is available for Arsenal’s clash with Standard Liege on Thursday – despite being left out of Scotland’s squad for the upcoming international break.

Tierney has had to bide his time since moving to the Emirates in the summer. He only made his first-team debut in last week’s Carabao Cup tie with Nottingham Forest.

That display saw Tierney provide glimpses showing why the Gunners spent £25 million on him. And plenty of fans were hoping to see the former Celtic man make his full debut at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Unfortunately he was not involved against Manchester United. And it may have caused concern that he is missing from Scotland’s squad for the upcoming break.

But the London Evening Standard reports that he has not suffered a setback in his comeback and could play against the Belgian side in their next Europa League group-stage game this week.

It looks to be a real boost for Unai Emery to have Tierney available. He appears to have the potential to rapidly cement himself in the side. And their defence could definitely do with a boost after a poor run of form.

His absence from the Scotland squad hints that it is unlikely that he will play 90 minutes on Thursday. But it would certainly be fantastic news if he does feature at any stage.
