Report: Key Celtic man could miss upcoming cup final

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is sweating on his fitness ahead of the upcoming Scottish Cup final, as reported by The Daily Record.

The Frenchman picked up a knock to his ankle late on against Rangers, but had to stay on the pitch with Neil Lennon having used up all his substitutes.

Medics are trying to find out the extent of the damage, and the player may now not be risked in the final league game of the season against Hearts.

A source described the injury as ‘particularly worrying’.

Edouard has been a key player for the Hoops this term – making 51 appearances in total, scoring 21 goals.

Edouard’s struggles come at the wrong time for Celtic, who are hoping to seal the Treble Treble to assert their dominance.

Lennon will be desperate to get the job done at Hampden Park on May 25, where Celtic take on Hearts.

Should the for £9 million signing from Paris Saint-Germain (Sky Sports) fail to recover for the game, then surely the onus will be on Oliver Burke to fill the void.

Winger Burke has often been deployed in a central role since moving to Parkhead on loan from West Bromwich Albion but has struggled.

A return to action for Leigh Griffiths may be too soon, with the Scotland international having only just returned to conditioning work following a break from football.
