Kenneth Zohore could end up staying at West Bromwich Albion, with the Daily Mail reporting that his potential move to Sheffield Wednesday is in doubt.
Zohore always looked set to be a player Slaven Bilic would be willing to offload in this window. He made just five starts in the Championship following his switch to the Hawthorns.
And the Dane has not featured for the Baggies since their promotion to the top flight. Fortunately for Zohore, a return to the second tier looked to be on the cards.
According to the Express and Star this week, the Owls were in advanced talks to sign the 26-year-old. However, another report has suggested that the striker may not end up at Hillsborough after all.
The Daily Mail reports that his move is off at this stage.
It should be noted that the Express and Star has claimed that Zohore is likely to join Wednesday. So it will be interesting to see how the coming hours play out.
It would be a blow for West Brom and Zohore if a move fell through. Bilic does not appear to have included the forward in his plans.
So it could be a frustrating time for the former Cardiff City man.
Meanwhile, West Brom would surely prefer to offload at least some of his wages in this window. The Sun on Sunday (13/9; page 61) reports that he earns £50,000-a-week at the Hawthorns.
So it will surely hand their January kitty a boost if they can find a new home for Zohore before the window closes.
