Tottenham Hotspur ace Christian Eriksen is being lined up by Juventus to be their next brilliant free transfer.

As reported by The Daily Mail, the Bianconeri are willing to wait a year to swoop for the Denmark international to save on a transfer fee.

The summer of 2020 is when Eriksen’s current contract expires, and he will actually be free to discuss potential pre-contract moves in January.

Juventus are known for picking up top quality players on free transfers; Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Lucio, Fernando Llorente, Kingsley Coman, Sami Khedira, Dani Alves, Emre Can and most recently, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have all headed to Turin for nothing in recent years.

Eriksen reminded everyone of his quality against Aston Villa on Saturday, and would be a major coup for the Italian giants, especially for no transfer fee.

TBR’s view

It really would be classic Juventus if they pulled off such a move.

Such is the player’s quality though, they will surely have competition in January. He could also still move elsewhere in the next couple of weeks.

It is likely Juve are interested in Eriksen because Sami Kherida and Blaise Matuidi are both ageing and likely won’t be at the club for the 2020/21 season.

The club are obviously banking on the player not signing a new deal at Tottenham, which is a risk as anything could still happen.
