Juventus have emerged as an interested party for Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette and boss Mikel Arteta could make a play and ask for Douglas Costa to be included in the deal.
According to Calciomercato, the French talisman has Andrea Pirlo as a keen admirer and he could look to swoop for the Gunners hitman this summer.
The 29-year-old scored 12 goals and registered seven assists during 2019/20 but his departure might help the Gunners raise funds for new players.
Arteta will hope to make a few additions and if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stays, Lacazette’s chances of regular football won’t be helped.
The man who recently helped Arsenal life the FA Cup arrived at the club in 2017 from Lyon, costing £46.5 million (BBC).
In 127 appearances for the Gunners, he’s registered 25 assists and scored 48 goals for the club.
His departure could make way for some new arrivals though and Arteta seems to fancy Costa coming to the Emirates Stadium.
The £190,000-a-week (Silly Season) star, doesn’t seem to be fancied by new boss Pirlo and reports claim he could be offloaded.
Costa featured 29 times for the Old Lady last season, scoring three goals and registering seven assists.
He missed the end of the campaign through injury and Arteta will need assurances over that before any potential deal can be struck.
The man with 31 caps for Brazil can operate on either flank or as a No.10 and adding him to a deal for Lacazette could be ideal.
TBR View – Risky but swap deal could work
Arsenal could end up with the better bargain out of this potential deal, especially if they receive cash plus Costa for Lacazette.
The French striker hasn’t done too badly at the Gunners but a move to pastures new would be ideal for all parties.
Lacazette has looked good on occasions but inconsistency has robbed him the chance to really adhere himself to the Gunners faithful.
If Costa arrives he would be a risk. His injury record has been suspect but if Arteta can get him fit, he could bolster the Gunners attack considerably.
