Report: Juventus to pursue Arsenal-linked Houssem Aouar during 2021
Long-term Arsenal target, Houssem Aouar, is wanted by Juventus next year as the Turin giants look to bring the Lyon midfielder into the club for next season.
The Gunners had pursued the French midfielder all summer but ended up landing Thomas Partey as Aouar decided to stay in France.
And now, Calciomercato claims that Juventus have already begun exploring options for 2021 when it comes to signing Aouar, with the report claiming an ‘exploratory phone call’ has taken place in the last few days.
The 22-year-old has become one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe thanks to his performances for Lyon. Big-name managers such as Pep Guardiola, as well as Mikel Arteta, are said to be fans of the playmaker.
However, it is Juventus who seem to be casting their eye over Aouar more keenly. It is expected that Arsenal will keep their own eye on the French midfielder into 2021 as well.
Juventus, though, have been known to splash the cash and pay huge wages when they want their man, meaning the Gunners could well face an uphill task to sign him.
This will linger, but Arsenal face a problem now – TBR View
You get the impression that the Gunners might have missed the boat on this one a bit, even though it was Aouar in the end who decided to stay put.
The midfielder is one of the best players in Europe at the moment. Those sorts of players simply aren’t going to fall into the arms of Arsenal, so it’s no surprise to see the likes of Juventus, and Real Madrid, linked.
Sadly for Gunners fans, there’s a definite air of inevitability about this one. But, we will see, of course.
