French website Le10Sport have claimed that Juventus have joined the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram this summer, amid reports that Liverpool want to land the French goal getter.
Thuram, 22, joined Gladbach in the summer of 2019 from Guingamp despite being strongly linked with a move to Marseille. It was seen as somewhat of a surprise move, given the French ace swapped France for Germany at such a young age.
But such a move has seriously paid off. Thuram has since scored 14 goals this season while also laying on nine assists. Since the resumption of the Bundesliga, Thuram has netted four goals in four games for Gladbach.
Son of Lillian Thuram, Marcus has jumped onto Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist with doubts surrounding the future of Divock Origi. German outlet Express.de claim Liverpool want Thuram, but would have to spend £44million to nab the striker.
Now, they face competition for the ex-Guingamp ace. Indeed, Le10Sport state that Juventus want to sign the attacker – who is represented by super agent Mino Raiola, who has very strong connections with the Italian champions.
TBR’s view – Thuram perfect for Klopp’s Liverpool
Liverpool need cover for both Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, who line up as wingers but of course play further ahead of Roberto Firmino – both scoring goal after goal. It means Liverpool need a striker that can also play out wide.
Thuram is ideal. Bags of pace, the striker came through the ranks at Guingamp out wide before being used as a striker – and has been played out wide by Gladbach at times. A decent price given his age, Thuram is ideal for Klopp.
