Report: Juventus deal blow to Everton in targeting Alessio Romagnoli

Everton have been dealt a further blow when it comes to signing Alessio Romagnoli, with Juventus now keen on signing the Italian defender.

According to Sempre Milan, the Turin giants are now setting their sights on signing Romagnoli this summer.

The Old Lady are keen on bringing in defensive reinforcements. With the likes of Gio Chiellini and Leo Bonucci both in their 30s, Juve are looking for new players.

And Romagnoli appears to fit the bill perfectly. The report from Sempre claims Juventus could offer Daniele Rugani in any deal for the 25-year-old, plus cash.

That could well tempt Milan into a sale and at the same time, deliver a bitter blow to Everton and Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti is a long-time admirer of Romagnoli. Indeed, Sempre Milan claimed previously that the Toffees had initiated contact with the defender ahead of a potential summer deal.

However, a deal looks some way off now with Juventus now in the mix. The Toffees will need to hope for a favour from super-agent Mino Raiola, who helped facilitate the Moise Kean move last summer.

Alessio Romagnoli is one of the best defenders in Europe and it’s little wonder that Juventus are keen on signing him.

His form for AC Milan has been nothing short of superb. Indeed, he has drawn massive praise from Milan and Italy legend, Franco Baresi.

Baresi previously told Football Italia how impressed he had been with Romagnoli’s leadership and ‘understanding of the role’ of a leader at Milan. Indeed, Baresi branded Romagnoli one ‘of the best players we have in Italy’.

Everton, then, will probably have to look elsewhere now. A deal always seemed unlikely but now things seem even more difficult for the Toffees.
