Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ‘loves’ Marco Asensio and could be interested in a move for the player, as reported by El Gol Digital.
The report claims that Klopp is a massive fan of the Real Madrid talent and would welcome his arrival at Anfield.
The report also suggests that the Spanish giants have seen his value drop to around €60 million and that Liverpool could raise the funds from their own player sales.
That final detail seems unlikely, considering that Liverpool were not willing to pay big for long-term target Timo Werner this summer, prior to him agreeing a deal with Premier League rivals Chelsea.
It is not the first time that Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Spanish talent. Last May, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Klopp was ‘desperate’ to sign the player and that they had missed out on his signature 12 months previously.
El Desmarque reported that a £67 million deal would have seen Asensio become a Liverpool player, as long as Sadio Mane headed in the other direction.
However, no deal could ever be thrashed out and Asensio went on to suffer a serious knee injury in pre-season which, ordinarily, would have ended his season.
However, the lockdown has allowed the 24-year-old a chance to play a role in the final weeks of the La Liga campaign. His comeback in midweek was sensational, scoring one and assisting another in a 16-minute cameo against Valencia which highlights just why Liverpool’s boss is so interested in the Spaniard.
