Jose Mourinho has reportedly made his mind up over Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters.

According to the Sun, the new Spurs boss wants the 22-year-old to “challenge” teammate Serge Aurier for the right-back position.

The report explains that Premier League side Crystal Palace were keen on trying to sign the full-back on loan or permanently in the January transfer window.

The Mirror in its print edition (24 November, Page 72) reported that Walker-Peters aimed to stick it out with Spurs despite mounting interest in him.

It seems like his new manager Mourinho does view him as part of his plans moving forwarding that should be a real boost for him.

TBR’s View:

Walker-Peters has failed to feature during Mourinho’s first two games in charge, but there is a busy December ahead for Spurs and he will surely get his opportunity at some point.

It should be a real incentive for the defender that Mourinho wants him to stay in his squad and it is a clean slate for him.

He’s been earmarked to challenge Aurier at right-back, but he also has the versatility to slot in at left-back and that’s something that the manager should perhaps consider moving forward.

He’s still a developing talent that has shown in glimpses he’s got what it takes to be a Spurs regular and just needs to find a consistency to his game.
