Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot in the next transfer window, according to reports from Bleacher Report and The Sun.

Bleacher Report claims that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is desperate for a new centre-back and a new right-back this summer. PSG’s out-of-contract Belgian international Thomas Meunier is one option at full-back, whilst Issa Diop of West Ham United and Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig fill the role for the heart of defence.

But the report also mentions Mourinho’s Portuguese countryman Dalot as a potential option. The 21-year-old can play both at right-back and left-back so would be an extremely useful addition to the Tottenham team.

Meanwhile, The Sun claims that United have made Dalot available for £30-£35 million, as they are unconvinced by his development, with Mourinho reportedly a ‘huge fan’ and ‘tempted’ by a potential Spurs reunion.

Mourinho is indeed a big fan of the £35,000-a-week star. He was in charge at Old Trafford when the Red Devils paid Porto a reported (Goal) £19 million to sign Dalot in 2018. After his Premier League debut that December, Mourinho was quoted by The Sun as suggesting Dalot could be United’s right-back for the ‘next ten years’.

“Diogo was fantastic and I think Gary Neville must be thinking now we have right back for the next ten years.”

However, Dalot has suffered with hip and knee trouble during his time in England and the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka last summer has left Dalot firmly in the background under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But if Mourinho could revitalise the talented 21-year-old, then Tottenham might be making a very shrewd decision by bringing the Portugal under-21 international to North London this summer.
