Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is open to terminating the loan deal for Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.
Fernandes has failed to make any sort of impact in north London after joining on an 18 month loan deal back in January.

The 21-year-old has yet to appear in the Premier League this term under Mourinho, and with the likes of Dele Alli also not involved in the first XI at the moment, there doesn’t appear to be a road into the squad for Fernandes.
And Mourinho, who was speaking to Portuguese press this week, has seemingly opened the door for Fernandes to head back to Benfica.
“Having him in the squad, even if he is not called up and not playing, is an extremely comfortable situation. I will never be the one to push him or say that I don’t want him here. But I understand the situation of the kid and Benfica”, quotes via The Express.
“If the club wants to end the relationship here, we will be here to collaborate, because we want the good of the player. Benfica has the power to decide and will be accepted by us.”

A move to terminate the loan deal would represent another example of Mourinho being happy with his current lot. Gedson came into the game with a high reputation but has struggled to kick on in north London.

There’s never been a clearer indication that a manager isn’t interested in a player than this. Mourinho is basically saying he has no problem with not having Fernandes in the squad.
It’s a shame for Gedson but still, he is young enough to kick on and make an impression in his career. Hopefully, he can go back to Benfica and look to restart his career a bit.
