Jose Mourinho is reportedly the driving force behind any Tottenham Hotspur interest in Colombian winger Luis Diaz, according to a report from his homeland.

Caracol is reporting that the Tottenham manager is a huge fan of the industrious wideman and has instructed Tottenham’s hierarchy to make a move for the player.

It comes amid reports from Portugal this week regarding Tottenham’s interest in the player.

It is easy to see just why Mourinho would be such a fan of Diaz.

The 14-cap international is a tireless winger who would suit Mourinho’s disciplined style of play perfectly.

Clearly, the Portuguese boss has been watching his former team this season and been impressed by the 23-year-old’s energy and his statistics back it up.

Diaz has scored 14 goals and assisted seven in 49 games this season. Tottenham’s higher-ups would also look favourably on a move, considering Diaz’s age and potential resale value.

As reported by O Jogo, Diaz cost €7 million (£6.2m) last summer when Porto snapped him up from Junior. Porto would undoubtedly expect a big increase on that amount for next season, especially as they owe his former club 20 percent of any sale, as reported by Caracol.

So Diaz will not come cheap but it appears that if Mourinho gets his way, then Diaz will become a Tottenham player this summer.
