Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on a potential January transfer deal for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.

Spurs have been linked with the Serbian international in the past but it now seems as though Jose Mourinho will be pushing the idea of signing the Viola talent in the winter.

A report from La Nazione is suggesting that Mourinho has wanted Milenkovic for a number of years. In fact, he was keen on bringing the player in during his time at Manchester United, who also retain an interest in the player.

Mourinho, according to the report, is insisting that Tottenham make an effort to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

However, Fiorentina are said to be standing firm on their asking price for the player. The Serie A side want €25 million (£22.5m) for the player, despite the fact he only has 18 months left on his contract.

Tottenham were after another senior centre-back in October but fell short of a deal to bring Milan Skriniar to the club.

Joe Rodon arrived from Swansea but is seen as a developing talent for the future. Milenkovic would likely come straight in as a starter for Mourinho. Whether Tottenham have the funds to make any deals happen in January however seems up for debate.
