Jose Mourinho would like Dele Alli back in the fold after the Tottenham Hotspur boss held a meeting with the midfielder in the wake of the January transfer window closing, according to a report from The Telegraph.

It will have come as a surprise to some that Dele remains in North London. The Telegraph reports that he was left extremely unhappy with Daniel Levy after a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain did not take place last month.

It will be intriguing to see how the rest of the season plays out for the 24-year-old. But it appears that he may be given a chance to turn his fortunes around.

The Telegraph reports that Dele has met with Mourinho. And it is suggested that the Portuguese wants him back in contention.

The report claims that there is a belief that there is a place for Dele – who earns £100,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – in the Spurs squad.

It does appear that not all of the doubts about his future have yet been alleviated. But it certainly seems to be a step in the right direction.

There is no question that Tottenham would benefit massively from a fit and firing Dele Alli. It is easy to forget just how good he was when he first joined Spurs.

He should potentially be approaching the peak years of his career. So if Mourinho can get him back on track from here, there is every chance that he could be a devastating option once again.
