Jose Mourinho is an ‘admirer’ of Sevilla defender Diego Carlos and would welcome a move to bring the Brazilian to the club this summer.
That is according to a report from The Telegraph this week, who suggest the 27-year-old is considered a perfect option to strengthen the Tottenham back-line this summer.
However, there is one major stumbling block.
Sevilla would expect a fee in excess of £35 million for the player, an amount Tottenham are unlikely to pay in the current global financial situation.

Whilst the asking price is a lot lower than Sanson’s reported (ABC) €75 million release (£68m) clause, it is still a figure Spurs are unwilling to reach.
Which is undoubtedly a shame, as Carlos is the perfect Mourinho defender.
Uncompromising but competent on the ball, he has real shades of Raphael Varane or John Terry, two of the best to have ever played under the Portuguese boss.
Unfortunately, Tottenham just do not appear to be in a position where they can make a genuine effort to sign the Brazilian this summer.
Instead, Tottenham will be on the lookout for cheaper alternatives this summer.
