Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is an admirer of Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla, according to reports in Italy. However, no official has been made yet for the talented centre-back.
L’Arena is reporting that the Albanian defender is a player Mourinho likes and that Tottenham are tracking his transfer progress. No official offer is yet to be made and the situation is ‘far from fluid’ but Tottenham are seemingly in the hunt.
The same report states that Kumbulla’s valuation sits at approximately €24 million (£22m) and that Inter Milan, AC Milan, Lazio and Juventus have varying degrees of interest in his services, down signficantly on a previous valution of €28 million (£24m).
This news follows a similar report from 10 days ago suggesting Tottenham have a strong interest in the 20-year-old.
Corriere di Verona (print edition, 02/09/20; pg 13) carried the news that day, explaining that Tottenham were willing to pounce following Inter Milan’s delay in putting a deal together. reporting that Tottenham are ready to swoop in as Inter Milan cool their interest in the Albanian defender.
Spurs, of course, lost Jan Vertonghen this summer but the emergence of Japhet Tanganga and use of Eric Dier appears to have alleviated a panicked move to buy another centre-back this summer.
That said, there is no doubt Kumbulla would be a welcome addition to bolster an area of the Spurs squad that is looking a little light.
At this increasingly reduced price-tag, perhaps it is a deal Tottenham should be considering.
