Jonathan Kodjia’s Aston Villa exit appears to be edging closer, with the Guardian reporting that the striker has not trained with the Villans this week.
The 30-year-old has played a peripheral role for the Villans this season. He has made just six Premier League appearances for Dean Smith’s side.

And it appeared that the writing was on the wall for Kodjia when he did not feature in either of the club’s last two games despite being Villa’s only fit striker since Wesley suffered a season-ending injury earlier in the month.
The Guardian is now reporting that the Ivory Coast international is close to agreeing a move away with his contract expiring this summer.

And it has been reported by the Guardian that he has not even trained this week as he continues to hold talks with other clubs.
TBR View – Kodjia sale best for all parties
It would arguably be a boost for Villa if they could offload Kodjia this month. It seems clear that he is not in Smith’s plans.
He will surely leave on a free in the summer should he fail to agree a move elsewhere this month.
And his exit should hand Villa’s January transfer kitty a boost. Spotrac suggests that he earns £35,000-a-week with the Villans.
Freeing up those wages could perhaps help as Villa look to strengthen their options up front.
Smith will surely be hoping to be busy as possible while the window remains open. And offloading the fringe players on significant money will certainly help.
