Tottenham Hotspur are only in the hunt for one more piece of business in the current transfer window, with transfers from the Football League still possible.
According to Football.London however, that does not mean Spurs will be making a slew of bids for players today.
Instead, they have just one Championship target, the Swansea City defender Joe Rodon.
Tottenham have been attempting to bring in the Welshman since the end of the main transfer window. However, the same report also made it clear that they are struggling to come to terms over a deal for the player, and they have no alternatives.
Tottenham see the young defender as one for the future but Swansea want a fee in the region of £20 million for the player. Spurs have no interest in reaching such a price-tag as they paid bargain fees for Real Madrid and Wolves full-backs Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty which make the Rodon demands seem excessive by comparison.
Therefore, it seems unlikely that Tottenham will get a deal done for Rodon unless Swansea make a considerable climbdown on their asking price.
The same report also makes it clear that Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has not been offered in exchange for Rodon, with Bournemouth leading the charge for the American.
Tottenham fans will no doubt be disappointed if the club fails to secure Rodon but, overall, Jose Mourinho has decent cover in defence and Rodon was always unlikely to come in as a starting option anyway.
With that in mind, Spurs fans are unlikely to be too disappointed if this is a deal the club cannot get over the line before the 5pm deadline.
