Joe Hart will undergo a medical at Celtic on Tuesday as his £1 million move from Spurs moves a step closer, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Hart is on the verge of swapping North London for Parkhead. The Daily Mail reports that the 34-year-old will join the Hoops on a three-year deal.

A fee was reportedly agreed in recent days after talks between the two clubs accelerated.

And according to the Daily Mail, his medical will take place on Tuesday.

Celtic on verge of coup as Joe Hart prepares for medical?

It is clear that Celtic need a new goalkeeper. Neither Vasilis Barkas or Scott Bain have looked convincing.

Both have been questioned already this season, in fact.

The reaction to the links with Hart has been mixed. Admittedly, they are not landing the Englishman at anything like the peak of his career.

He has not played a single Premier League game in the last two seasons.

Having said that, he should be, by far, Celtic’s best goalkeeper. And the move may evoke memories of the most recent deal for Fraser Forster.

Forster arrived on loan with his career experiencing a considerable decline. But the Southampton man was outstanding.

If Hart proves to be as influential, his doubters will be silenced extremely quickly. The onus is now on the Tottenham man to make that happen.

Good business for Spurs?

The transfer fee is unlikely to change the game for Tottenham. But moving his wages off the books will be beneficial.

He earns around £52,000-a-week, according to Spotrac. That is too much to pay for a third-choice goalkeeper.

Nuno Espirito Santo has some talented young goalkeepers coming through. So it is little surprise that the club would seemingly rather put their faith in players such as Alfie Whiteman.

Whiteman has impressed in pre-season. So it is hard to see why Spurs would have any qualms letting Hart go.

Hopefully, it is a deal that works out for all sides.
