Lyon defender Joachim Andersen is on his way to London to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Fulham, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Fulham have started the campaign in poor fashion losing all four of their Premier League games so far.
With that in mind, Scott Parker has been desperate to sign a centre-back or two and Andersen will certainly be welcomed at Craven Cottage.
The 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Lyon and a loan move to Fulham will allow him to play regular football.
Andersen signed for the Ligue 1 outfit from Sampdoria in 2019, costing the Italian club £27 million.
The deal which will see him arrive in West London is likely to be a loan with a view to making it permanent at the end of the season.
Fulham’s start to the season has prompted them into scouring the market for central defensive options.
They have lost every league game they have played conceding 11 goals in the process.
Yesterday they were beaten 1-0 by Wolves in a performance that in truth, was vastly improved.
Andersen is 6ft 2in and is considered as a ball-playing centre-back.
During his time at Lyon, he made 32 appearances, scoring twice and has also played three times during 2020/21.
With that in mind, it’s unlikely that Andersen will need a settling in period and his match fitness should be up to scratch.
The youngster made his debut for Denmark in October 2019 and is widely regarded as an exciting talent.
Andersen nearly moved to London a year ago but to Fulham’s rivals Tottenham.
Calcio Napoli 24 reported that the defender was high on Tottenham’s shortlist, although he eventually chose to sign for Lyon instead.
