Everton have had a bid of £500,000 plus add-ons for Jarrad Branthwaite rejected by Carlisle United, with the Daily Mail reporting that the centre-back is going to cost £800,000.
Branthwaite looks to be one of the most exciting talents in the Football League. The 17-year-old has made nine League Two appearances this season.

The Daily Mail reports that a host of Premier League sides are interested. As well as the Toffees and Reds, Watford, Manchester City, Chelsea and Leicester City all want the teenager.
The Mail notes that Everton offered an initial £500,000 for Branthwaite in a bid that would have included add-ons. However, that bid has been knocked back with Carlisle holding out for £800,000.

TBR View – January move surely inevitable
Despite Everton having a bid rejected, it would be no surprise to see Branthwaite move somewhere before the January window shuts.
The asking price will certainly not put off all of his admirers. Paying that fee could prove to be a real masterstroke in the coming years. And for top flight clubs, it is surely a gamble worth taking.
Branthwaite’s performances this season suggest that he could develop into a fantastic talent. It does not look to be a question of where he goes this month, it is surely a case of wondering where he will end up.
