Everton midfielder James McCarthy is reportedly close to sealing his exit away from Goodison Park.
According to BBC Sport, the enforcer is “close” to completing a £3million switch to Premier League club Crystal Palace.
It is understood that the 28-year-old travelled to London on Tuesday night and is set for his medical today (Wednesday).
The report details that the 41-time capped Republic of Ireland international is set to finalise personal terms with Palace too.
McCarthy is entering the final year of his contract with Everton and it looks like he won’t be remaining with Marco Silva’s squad to see it out.
The central midfielder has played 133 times during his six-year spell with the Merseyside club and was a rock in front of the defence at one point.
But he’s had tremendous back luck with injuries and played just one senior game last season.

TBR’s View:
McCarthy’s expected exit seems good for all parties involved and hopefully he can regain some fitness to start playing for Palace.
He could be another Everton midfielder to exit this summer along with Idrissa Gueye, but Silva has been busy bolstering that area of the pitch.
Fabian Delph has arrived from Manchester City to bring some experience and know-how, while promising 23-year-old Jean-Philippe Gbamin is also now on the books after joining from German club Mainz.
McCarthy is a defensive midfielder that will be remembered fondly for his crunching tackles and reading of the game, but his time with Everton seems to have come to a natural end.
