Arsenal could land Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic, for less than £10m according to Mundo Deportivo, although Sevilla is dead set on bringing the Croatian back to the club.

Rakitic is set to leave Barcelona this summer. A number of clubs are said to be keen on the 32-year-old, with Arsenal rumoured to be very keen, according to a report from the Daily Mail this week.

Mikel Arteta has apparently been in touch with the midfielder to outline his plans for how he’d use the midfielder. With the Gunners set to complete a squad overhaul this summer, Rakitic could add experience, steel, and top-level quality to the ranks.

However, despite the price drop, it seems Sevilla are favourites to land the Croat. Rakitic excelled with the Spanish side before moving to Barcelona and has often spoken of his love for the club.

That, then, could well pose the biggest problem for Arsenal’s hopes of signing Rakitic.

Rakitic is everything Arsenal need if they want to become a top-four team. Despite being into his 30s, he’s still absolutely quality and can bring a calmness to the midfield for the Gunners.

He’s also a winner. His performances in the World Cup in 2018 drove Croatia to the final, while at Barcelona he has won everything there is to win. A truly brilliant player who’d be amazing value at less than £10m.
