Newcastle United will open contract talks with four senior players soon. According to The Mirror, Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey are among the players due to meet for contract talks with Newcastle.
Matt Ritchie and DeAndre Yedlin will also open negotiations with the club over possible contract extensions. All four players are out of contract in summer 2021 and will be entering their last year from next summer.
Steve Bruce is already plotting his long-term Newcastle plans and thinks all four players are important. Hayden, Shelvey, Ritchie and Yedlin will now explore the possibility of extending their respective contracts.
There are nine other Newcastle players with contracts expiring in 2021. But only these four have been scheduled in for talks.
Hayden and Shelvey have both started the season in promising form, offering Bruce plenty of encouragement for the future. Although Hayden has expressed his desire to move down south in the past, keeping him around will be a major boost for the Magpies.
Shelvey’s form has been hampered by injuries over the past few years but there is no doubting his natural ability. If Bruce can keep him fit, the sporadic England international can become a key part of this team.
Meanwhile, Ritchie and Yedlin are solid players to have. Ritchie is a true professional and his commitment is unquestionable. Meanwhile, Yedlin provides a strong back-up option at full-back.
