Internazionale allegedly want to open contract talks with Tottenham Hotspur target Lautaro Martinez.
What’s the story?
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A side have scheduled a meeting with the player and his agent for next week.
The move comes amid interest from the north Londoners in the centre-forward. Recent reports hinted the South American was still open to a move to Spurs, who had reportedly agreed a £60m deal.
However, those hopes have been dashed after the latest comments from the ace’s agent. Speaking to TyC Sports, Alejandro Camaño has confirmed his client wants to stay with the Italian giants, despite proposals from English sides.
When talking about the attacker, Camano told TyC Sports (via Romano): “He’s not leaving Inter despite proposals from English clubs. He’s happy at Inter and really loves the club. We’ll meet next week to talk over new contract. Lautaro wants to stay, we’ll see.”

Tottenham must chase other targets
With Martinez looking for a new contract, Tottenham need to start chasing other targets.
Whether Harry Kane leaves or not, the number nine position needs attention. The lack of backup for the talisman is a danger for the Lilywhites.
One long-term injury to the England captain and Tottenham will be struggling next season. Or even worse, if Kane leaves, Spurs will be in dire straits.
Given his performances for Inter over the last few seasons, especially last year, the Argentine would have been a fantastic target.
However, those dreams have seemingly been dashed and Tottenham must work quickly to figure out an alternative.
