Report: Inter slap £21 million price tag on Gabriel Barbosa

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are both understood to be in the market for a new striker, and the London clubs have been linked with the same player in recent weeks.

Both have apparently expressed interest in Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa, also known as Gabigol, who spent last year on loan at Flamengo.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a brilliant spell back in his homeland, rediscovering his mojo to the tune of 34 goals in 41 games.

His brilliant form has alerted a host of clubs across Europe, and Inter are supposedly keen to move him on.

Signed for a reported fee of £24 million (Goal), the Nerazzurri would be open to taking a loss on the Brazilian – Foot Mercato claim the club would accept £21 million for his departure.

Whether that asking price will tempt Spurs (linked by The Sunday People (12/1; page 51) or the Hammers (FC Inter News) remains to be seen, but both have need for additional firepower this January.

TBR’s view – £21 million a gamble worth taking

£21 million is hardly a bank-busting sum, and both clubs may well take some interest as the transfer window enters its final stages.

Spurs will be missing the injured Harry Kane for potentially the rest of the season, while West Ham really need some support for Sebastien Haller.

Barbosa has long been linked with the Irons, and maybe there’s now a good chance he’ll finally pitch up at the London Stadium.
