Manchester City are set to be disappointed in their pursuit of Inter Milan striker, Romelu Lukaku, according to reports from Italy.

Sempre Inter claim that the Nerazzuri have no intention of selling Lukaku this summer. It comes in the midst of interest from City, while Barcelona are also thought to be keen on the big Belgian.

Lukaku has been nothing short of a revelation since leaving Manchester United for Italy. He’s scored an impressive 59 goals in just 85 games for Inter, dispelling any myth that he was never going to be a world-class striker.

And that form has caught the attention of City, who are desperate for a new striker with the future of Sergio Aguero up in the air. Other names City are chasing including Erling Haaland, although Lukaku is a proven commodity in the Premier League.

However, it seems Inter have slammed the door shut in the face of City and Barca. Haaland, then, might well prove to be the one Guardiola and his bosses go after in the summer.

TBR View: Lukaku was always a lofty ambition, time to move on for City

It was always going to be hard for Inter to even consider the sale of Lukaku and so it seems to be the way here with this report.

The Belgian striker is one of the best in the world right now, so there’s just no reason for Inter to sell. Barring a monster bid they simply cannot turn down, they’d be getting little benefit from offloading Lukaku.

City do have the resources, but this one already looks like a battle lost and so the club simply need to move on.
