Report: Inter Milan to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal if Martinez leaves

Arsenal could be set to lose Alexandre Lacazette, with Inter Milan reportedly keen on signing the Frenchman as a replacement for Lautaro Martinez.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Milan club have identified Lacazette as the ideal replacement for Martinez.

Martinez is set to sign for Barcelona. Indeed, the Daily Mail claimed yesterday that a deal had been agreed, with the striker set to sign a £250k-a-week deal in Spain.

Inter look set to pocket close to £100m for Martinez if various reports about his value are to be believed.

And the Italians want to replace their man quickly it seems. Lacazette, who is 29, has struggled to have the impact he’d like with Arsenal since his move from Lyon. Despite this, he has rattled in 34 Premier League goals in just 87 appearances.

Losing Lacazette would be another bitter blow for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta is already facing a fight to keep hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The loss of two experienced strikers could well hinder the club’s chances of success next season.

Lacazette has been mentioned in terms of moving to Inter before. However, this latest advancement suggests the Serie A giants are ready to up the ante.

Not the end of the world…if Arsenal keep Aubameyang – TBR View

The loss of Lacazette to Inter is not the end of the world for Arsenal, just as long as they keep hold of Aubameyang at the same time.

However, losing the pair would be a bit of a nightmare. Although Mikel Arteta may well want younger options in his squad, replacing two proven European goalscorers is a tough task.

There are pros and cons to this potential deal happening. On one hand, Arsenal might get a decent fee for a player heading towards his 30s. On the other hand, they’d be losing another source of goals.
